12 Oct: 2 Poets, 1 Conversation with Andrew Motion and Alice Oswald

Join former Poet Laurette, Sir Andrew Motion and award-winning poet Alice Oswald for an intimate and open conversation. Starting with a reflective look at the use of birdsong in the use of Edward Thomas's poety as well as their own this relaxed and intimate conversation will meander its way through readings, discussion and debate as we invite these two amazing poets into our homes to share their admiration for Edward Thomas.

This is a digital event and will be held via Zoom. Full joining details will be sent to participants a week before the event.

About the poets:

Sir Andrew Motion - Andrew Motion was UK Poet Laureate from 1999 to 2009 and is co-founder of the online Poetry Archive. In 2015 he was appointed Homewood Professor in the Arts at Johns Hopkins University; he lives in Baltimore.

Alice Oswald -  In its vivid, hypnotic and often startlingly imaginative qualities, the poetry of Alice Oswald (b. 1966) confirms a unique sensibility at work. From her first collection, The Thing in the Gap-Stone Stile (1996), which was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection and the T.S. Eliot Prize, her unusual, almost visionary style – personifying Nature and its birds, beasts and flowers; plumbing the historical and spiritual depths of the landscape – has been admired by readers, critics and fellow poets alike.
