Enjoy a smorgasbord of jazz and roots music, song and poetry to inspire and entertain, including works by Edward Thomas. Celebrating the lore of the road and encounters on life’s journey, you can expect the unexpected.
Be inspired and share your work at the open mic night. Following the performances of Charlotte Glasson, Chris Hardy and Barry Smith, we invite you to share your own work in our uniqu and intimate venue.

Charlotte Glasson is a multi-intrumentalist band leader who plays saxophone, the penny whistle, violin and even the musical saw. She’s played all over the world including Sydney Opera House, Ronnie Scott’s and the Royal Albert Hall, working with orchestras and bands such as Oasis, Nick Cave, Sophie Ellis-Bextor. John Cooper Clark and the Divine Comedy. Currently performing with the Waeve, Charlotte has released seven CDs.
Chris Hardy is the guitarist from the famed music/poetry ensemble LiTTLe MACHiNe, which sets much-loved poems to music, working with top poets such as Carol Ann Duffy and Roger McGough. The group has released several CDs. Chris is also an established poet with several published collections, Key to the Highway (Shoestring) being the latest.
Barry Smith is a poet, theatre director and arts festival producer. He is director of the South Downs Poetry Festival. Well-published in magazines, nominated for the TS Eliot Prize and shortlisted for the BBC Proms Poetry and Bread & Roses Awards, his collections Performance Rites (Waterloo Press) and the T.S. Eliot Prize nominated Reeling and Writhing (Vole Books/Dempsey and Windle) draw upon his experiences in theatre and the arts.

Participant wanting to share their work can sign up on the night of the event.
We ask particiapnts to be prepare a reading of up to 5 minutes (time allocated will vary depending on take up).
